With some people, their gums cover the front teeth, so that more gums are visible than teeth when they smile. Thus, the teeth appear to have an unnatural shape; they look short and wide. This aesthetic problem is called a gummy smile. This problem can be easily solved, however. After this surgery, you will no longer bare your gums when you smile, but your teeth; that is your gums will no longer be the dominant feature of your smile.
The course of the procedure
The gums can be corrected by means of a microsurgery. The crowns of the teeth that are hidden behind the gums are easily uncovered. Gum modification is done on the visible teeth, from those numbered one (the front teeth) through five. An X-ray is first taken and the gums must not be inflamed at this time. The gums heal quickly after this simple procedure and the teeth then beautify the whole smile with their natural shape.
