Growths in the oral cavity are unpleasant from a functional as well as aesthetic point of view. Removing them offers immediate relief.
Injuries, heredity and infections can cause the growth of fibroses in the mouth. From an external point of view, growth appears as a bump or swelling in the mouth. The disease is thought to look like a wart, but it is not one. It is pink or flesh-coloured and doesn’t look different from the rest of the surface of the oral mucosa, the palate, face, gums or tongue (depending on where it is located). It looks like a papilloma, but the surface of this shape is smooth and does not flake off. The formation is painless to the touch, and it does not cause itching or burning. It develops very slowly and if the growth is injured, the gums may bleed, ache and some may even fall into the category of malignant tumours.
The procedure is done under local anaesthesia. The growths are removed surgically if they need to be sent for histological examination; if not, the procedure is done with a CO2 fraction laser. The treatment is painless and is done by an outpatient doctor. The time need to remove one growth using the CO2 laser is about 5 minutes. The healing time is rapid and undemanding.
